MY STORY

47288742_2173040836343415_5377701922524364800_n.jpg

My life and my music have one common message that I believe to be important. It’s a message of hope, love, acceptance by God and no matter how far any person may have fallen, God loves them and has never given up on them.

Despite the beat of the songs I write and sing, whether upbeat and makes you dance or flat out abandoned worship that makes you just soak in the presence of God, the message will never change… God loves you and wants you. I sing with a passion and conviction because the words are the words written on my heart. God is not boring, music and our worship don’t have to be either.

I grew up as an only child in San Antonio, TX. Being a pastors kid and home schooled, I didn’t have the usual upbringing. I remember that by the age of 5, I had a sense and knowing of what the presence of God was and how tangible His presence was in worship. I wanted that constantly.

I was young but I had this love for music and worship that was hard to describe. I felt a lot like David. I was an only child and often felt like a lonely child. Ironic that being a homeschooled only child would be a big part of what God intended to use as the tool to cultivate my purpose. Without having a lot of friends or siblings, it meant that it was just me, and that loneliness made me crave time with God because I felt somehow more whole in His presence. I would talk and He would listen. I would worship and He would respond. He understood me. He understood my heart even when I couldn’t really explain it. I can remember watching worship leaders as a kid and I wanted so bad to be able to do that. I wanted God to choose me for that. Funny that God caused me to desire the thing He called me to do all along.

It was during one of my alone times with God that He spoke to my heart and showed me how He would use my life to lead others in worship. He showed me how my life would need to be lived in a way that kept me broken before Him and broken before people. It meant that there would be no place for pride and boasting in self. My worship would have to be pure. My life would have to be pure. It’s in our brokenness that we worship. In our worship, we usher others into Gods’ presence. There’s no pride in worship. It’s pure and it is love.

By the time I was 16, I was writing songs, composing music, and I could play 5 instruments. By 22, God allowed me to go on tour throughout Europe and the Uk. It was an incredible time. In 2014 I released my first real single “All This Time”. In 2017 “Got A Feelin” went out. And most recently my full EP “The Difference” was released. As amazing as all these things are, I wouldn’t trade the alone time with God when it’s just me and Him for anything. Because at the end of the day, no matter how great the success of the music or the places I go, the people I meet, it all comes back to the audience of One. I will always feel like David, “God, I can lose all the things, but just don’t take your Spirit from me.”
